About HashGenerator.de
Hi, I'm Henrik.
I studied Applied Computer Science at Ruhr University Bochum and completed my master's degree there. During my studies, I was particularly interested in cryptography. Among other things, the lectures of Christof Paar and Tim Güneysu were formative for me.
Out of this enthusiasm, the idea for HashGenerator.de eventually emerged.
What originally started as a simple hash generator, I'd like to gradually expand into an understandable technical reference on hash functions and cryptographic hash schemes.
In doing so, I don't want to explain the topics only in theory. Many concepts become much easier to understand when you can try them out yourself. That's why I combine the articles on this site with interactive tools and visualizations.
For example, you can observe for yourself what happens in the avalanche effect, experiment with collisions, or follow step by step how a SHA-256 hash is created from an input.
For technical statements, I try, as far as possible, to draw on primary sources such as NIST standards and publications or relevant RFCs.
HashGenerator.de is a private project and is continuously being expanded. If you find an error, have a question, or would like to suggest a new topic, I'd be happy to hear from you.
